Once students reach upper secondary level, it is time for them to make their own decision on their academic journey. The way students learn, perform, and do their work may change significantly. Some students choose to be independent in their learning whereas others still need more support from their teachers. On top of that, at this stage, it is time for students to prepare themselves for the university. Therefore, designing a course that pays the way for students to reach the desired destination, providing additional support for their learning, suiting their needs, and building their confidence are of immense necessity.
The curriculum of Upper Secondary Level aims to provide students with skills that go beyond their pure academic which are said to help students shape their critical thinking, prepare for university, deal with stress, and cope with every day situation. In traditional learning, students sit on their chair and listen to their teachers. Teachers make most of the decision for students. In the present time, especially after the spark of COVID-19 pandemic, the way students learn change drastically. Hence, the Upper Secondary Program is designed by following, adapting, and responding to the current status quo.
The upper secondary program curriculum comprises three levels ranging from level 11 to level 12. Each level contains 3 terms, and each term lasts for 3 months, which make up of 11 weeks. It offers both full time and part time classes. Full time class starts from 7:30 am -10:30 am for morning shift and 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm for afternoon shift. Two different schedules are offered for part time classes: (1) 5:30pm -7:00 pm, and (2) 5:30pm – 6:30pm. The program is held from Monday to Friday. The curriculum also offers extracurricular activities and foreigner sessions.
